Libby Trickett OAM

Gold Medal Olympian

Libby is a renowned Australian swimmer who won gold medals at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics; setting women’s records in numerous events, including the 50 metre freestyle and the 200 metre freestyle. Out of the pool, Libby is a media personality, Ambassador for several other organisations and a Health and Lifestyle Reporter for the Today Show.

Guy was the first man to win the Coolangatta Gold – a 46km race or running, swimming and paddling from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta and back. Staying at the top of the sport for the next decade, Guy has cemented his name in the national psyche along with winning major ironman races across the globe, including the World Ironman title. When retiring from the sport, he did so not ever having lost a marathon Ironman race during his career, something no other ironman has ever done. As one of Australia’s foremost advocated for a healthier nation, Guy is passionate about the challenges of childhood obesity, heart disease and raising awareness for community-focused fitness.

“I’m really excited to be onboard as an ASSA ambassador to help prevent drowning and encourage all parents to give their children the opportunity to learn how to swim. As a long distance swimmer and mother to an eight year old, I know there are many benefits that come from learning to swim, its an amazing skill that can keep you fit and healthy for life. But most importantly – learning to swim might just save your life one day. I encourage all parents to give this gift to their children.”

Tammy holds numerous world records for open water swimming and has swum a total distance equivalent to swimming1.5 times round the world! Tammy is a small business owner of Swimland Swim School in Narre Warren, Victoria and is a strong advocate for water safety and children learning to swim.

 
Susan Seipel

Paralympic Bronze medallist, Dual Paracanoe World Champion

“Swimming got me into sport and gave me freedom from my disability. When I was in the pool I could compete against my peers and discover my true ability and talent. I absolutely loved swimming and think everyone can benefit from learning how to swim.”

Susan Seipel is a diverse athlete with a background in swimming, equestrian and is a Paralympic medallst in Paracanoe. She was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex, a rare disorder characterised by fusion of joints and absent muscle formation her legs. Undergoing her 1st operation at only 4 weeks old, she was admitted to hospital 13 times before the age of 15. She learnt to swim at age 4, and discovered a passion for competition. She held 6 Queensland State Games Records and 3 Australian National Age Records.
