The past year has been one of focus, clarity, and momentum for the Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA). The Board provided leadership and stability, bringing diverse perspectives that sharpened the organisation’s direction. In 2025, ASSA welcomed Kim McMinn from WA and Alena Sarri from the ACT, whose insights further strengthened national representation, and ASSA is grateful they have chosen to continue serving into 2026.
Workforce development remained a core priority for ASSA. Through strategic partnerships, roadshows, and programs like BOSS, ASSA provided teachers, coordinators, and managers with practical, relevant opportunities to grow leadership skills and navigate modern aquatic operations. The mentoring program became more structured and purposeful, helping owners and managers tackle real-world challenges.
ASSA expanded services to support compliance, communication, and operational management, helping swim schools save time, reduce friction, and strengthen safety. They revitalised the S.A.F.E.R. WaterWarriors program, bringing clearer, more engaging water safety messages to families, while their advocacy work ensured learning to swim remained a national priority.
Financial discipline returned ASSA to surplus after two challenging years, reflecting members’ trust and ASSA’s commitment to a stable, capable organisation.
ASSA looks forward to 2026 with confidence, knowing that together with their members, they will continue to champion water safety and professional growth across Australia.
