The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has announced the BOSS Circle Leadership Retreat, a purpose-designed leadership experience for swim school owners seeking time, clarity and perspective away from the demands of daily operations.
The retreat will be held from Sunday 8 March (4pm) to Tuesday 10 March (4pm), 2026 at Spicers Guesthouse, Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, NSW, bringing together a small, curated group of swim school owners from across Australia.
Luke Daly, CEO of the Australian Swim Schools Association, said the retreat was developed in response to the realities of swim school ownership.
“Running a swim school means carrying constant responsibility – for people, safety, culture and sustainability – often while making decisions in between lessons, emails and phone calls,”
Mr Daly said.
“The BOSS Circle Leadership Retreat exists because not every challenge needs an immediate answer. Some need space, reflection and informed conversation with others who truly understand the context.”
Designed as a deliberately small and immersive experience
The retreat focuses on creating the conditions for better thinking and stronger leadership decisions. Set in the Hunter Valley, the location has been intentionally chosen to remove owners from their everyday environments and allow deeper conversations to emerge.
One full day of the retreat will be facilitated by respected leadership expert Matt Church, known for his work with leaders operating in complex, people-focused environments.
“Matt doesn’t deliver surface-level content or generic frameworks,”
Mr Daly said.
“He works with the room – helping experienced owners sharpen leadership presence, influence and clarity in situations that are often nuanced and high-stakes.”
The remainder of the retreat centres on owner-to-owner discussions, reflection time and facilitated conversations that rarely fit into traditional meetings or professional development formats.
“This retreat isn’t about fixing everything in two days,”
Mr Daly said.
“It’s about stepping back, checking your footing and moving forward with greater confidence and clarity.”
Places for the BOSS Circle Leadership Retreat are strictly limited, and interest is expected to be high.
Swim school owners are encouraged to register their interest early. Once places are filled, registrations will close.
