Reimagining Swimming in Schools

As spring arrives and another school swimming season begins, the role of swimming in education is once again in the spotlight, you may ask the question “Do kids learn to swim at school?”

The Australian Swim Schools Association was invited to provide an article for the swimming section of the September 2025 edition of Education Australia Resource Guide. This national resource, published biannually, is distributed across primary schools, high schools, TAFEs, and universities Australia-wide.

In this feature, ASSA highlights the benefits of embedding swimming into school curriculums including cognitive benefits, social development and mental wellbeing.
