The City of Canning has exciting opportunities for dedicated Swimming Teachers to join us and lead our swim programs on a casual basis, with shifts available at both the Riverton and Cannington Leisureplexes.
The role reports to the Supervisor Swimming & Wellness and will take responsibility for assisting with undertaking quality swimming instruction, developing lesson plans, updating skills lists and maintaining attendance records in accordance with curriculum, AUSTSWIM and Royal Life Saving Society’s guidelines. Depending on qualifications and experience, applicants will have the opportunity to deliver a range of swimming lessons, including baby and toddler program, pre-school program, school age program, lifesaving programs, CALD programs, adult programs and squads. The roles we have available are casual in nature, and if successful, you may be assigned to a particular class for a 10 week program in line with school terms. We typically have shifts available on weekday mornings (9am to 11:45am), weekday afternoons (3:30pm to 6:15pm), Saturday mornings (9am to 11:45am), Saturday afternoons (12:15pm to 3pm), and Sunday mornings (9am to 11:45am). The start and finish times may vary depending on the number of enrolments received for the coming term, and there may be additional shifts available outside of these times.
Applicants will have a current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Water Safety qualification as a minimum, and other AUSTSWIM qualifications will also be looked upon favourably, such as Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Access and Inclusion and Teacher of Adults. The right applicants for the role will have a current Working with Children’s Check, a current resuscitation certificate and a current satisfactory National Police Clearance. They will enjoy working in a team setting towards providing a high quality and consistent swim school program, and will have an excellent work ethic.

AquaBuddies is a private swim school that offers lessons at a small heated indoor pool in North Bondi. We provide learn to swim lessons for children aged 3 – 10 years of age.
We are looking for Qualified Instructors with at least 2-3 yrs experience that love working with children and have plenty of energy & enthusiasm! Ideally you can work across more than one term with a view to become a supervisor within the team.
During school term we operate Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons as well as Sunday mornings. We also run a school holiday intensives program.
